This recipe leaves out the sodium lauryl. The mixture must be used within a few days.


Honey Bee Healthy
Recipe (1gallon for feeding)
2 quarts water

2 quarts of sugar
22 drops (1ml) of spearmint oil

22 drops (1ml) of lemongrass oil
1/4 teaspoon lecithin granules (liquid is too hard to dissolve in water)

 
Dissolve the granules in very hot (almost boiling) water, add sugar and let it cool prior to incorporating the oils into the mixture. The lecithin is an emulsifier and helps disperse the oils in the water mixture.

 

Honey Bee Healthy Recipe (1gallon for drenching)
2 quarts water

2 quarts of sugar
88 drops (4ml) of spearmint oil

88 drops (4ml) of lemongrass oil
1/4 teaspoon lecithin granules (liquid is too hard to dissolve in water)

 
Dissolve the granules in very hot (almost boiling) water, add sugar and let it cool prior to incorporating the oils into the mixture. The lecithin is an emulsifier and helps disperse the oils in the water mixture.

 

Use 8 – 12 oz of the mixture to drench a hive; temperatures should be above 70 deg-F. Follow up 10 days later.

When temperatures are cooler use powder sugar to cause mite drops.
